Life, Rescued: A New Short Film Series by MODERNBEAST

On March 2, MODERNBEAST launched Life, Rescued, a short film series exploring the quiet, profound ways animal rescue shapes the lives of the people who choose it.

Animal rescue is often spoken about in numbers. Intake counts. Transport miles. Adoption rates. But behind every number is a life that was interrupted and a human who chose to step forward. Life, Rescued exists to tell those stories.

This series steps inside real homes and invites honest conversations with the people who have made animal rescue part of their daily rhythm. Not as a single act, but as an ongoing commitment. Through intimate, unfiltered moments, Life, Rescued explores how rescue reshapes routines, values, families, and the meaning of home itself.

Because animal rescue does not just change animals. It changes us.

Episode 1: Wilson, Wyoming

The first episode begins just outside of our Jackson Hole storefront, in Wilson, Wyoming. It is an ordinary backyard in many ways. Open sky. Mountain air. The quiet calm that exists just outside the store.

But inside the home connected to it, animal rescue is everywhere.

A family of four lives with adopted dogs, six cats, and a steady rotation of foster animals passing through their doors. Some stay for weeks. Some for months. Each one arrives with a different past and leaves with a different future.

Rescue, here, is not an occasional act. It is part of the structure of their lives.

Their commitment extends beyond their own home. They volunteer their time. They use their professional photography skills to help local rescues and shelters capture images that allow animals to be seen and shared. They are constantly finding creative ways to support the rescue community, understanding that visibility alone can change the outcome of an animal’s life.

Their children are growing up inside this reality. They are learning, firsthand, what it means to care for something beyond yourself. They are learning responsibility, empathy, and the understanding that small actions matter.

In this home, animal rescue is not separate from daily life. It is woven into it.

More Than One Way to Rescue

One of the intentions behind Life, Rescued is to expand the understanding of what animal rescue can look like.

Rescue is not limited to bringing an animal home permanently. It can mean fostering, offering temporary space while an animal heals and waits. It can mean volunteering time at a shelter. It can mean transporting animals between locations. It can mean donating resources. It can mean using your professional skills, whether photography, design, or storytelling, to help animals be seen.

Fostering, in particular, plays a critical role. It gives animals the opportunity to decompress outside of a shelter environment. It allows them to be understood. It creates the conditions for permanent placement to become possible.

Animal rescue is not one single act. It is a collective effort made up of many individual choices.

This series exists to honor those choices and to show that there are countless ways to be part of rescue.

Why We Created Life, Rescued

MODERNBEAST has always believed that animals are not separate from our lives. They shape our routines. They influence our pace. They teach us how to be present, patient, and attentive.

Animal rescue carries an even deeper weight. It asks something of us. It asks us to make space. To be patient. To care without knowing the outcome. And in return, it offers something immeasurable.

Life, Rescued was created to document this relationship. To slow down and observe the people who have chosen this path. To tell stories that reflect the depth, complexity, and beauty of animal rescue.

These are not extraordinary people. They are ordinary people who made a decision, and then made it again. And again.

The Beginning of the Series

Episode 1 is only the beginning.

Life, Rescued will continue to follow individuals and families across different communities, each with their own relationship to animal rescue. From lifelong advocates to those just beginning, each story reflects a different expression of the same belief. That animals deserve safety, dignity, and care. And that humans are capable of providing it.

This series is an extension of MODERNBEAST’s ongoing commitment to animal rescue advocacy, intentional living, and meaningful storytelling.

Because every rescued animal carries a story.

And every person who chooses rescue does too.
