At MODERNBEAST, giving back to animals is built into our DNA. Each quarter, we partner with a nonprofit organization doing meaningful work to improve the lives of animals and the communities that care for them.

From October 1 through December 31, our Round Up partner is HIT Living Foundation, a Los Angeles-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and finding homes for animals in need both locally and internationally.

Founded in 2018, HIT Living is a 100% foster-based rescue. Their work spans rescue, foster care, adoption, veterinary support, education, disaster response, and international animal welfare initiatives.

What Is HIT Living?

HIT Living Foundation stands for Honesty, Integrity, and Trust, three principles that guide the organization's approach to animal welfare.

Based in Los Angeles, HIT Living is a 100% foster-based rescue, meaning the animals they save are placed in foster homes rather than housed in a traditional shelter. Their foster network provides dogs with a safe place to recover, decompress, and prepare for their forever homes.

Since its founding in 2018, HIT Living says it has rescued more than 5,000 animals through disaster relief, rehabilitation, and rehoming efforts across California, Mexico, and the Bahamas.

But their work doesn't stop at rescue.

Through their international program, HIT Living works with local communities and veterinary partners in places including the Bahamas to provide spay and neuter services, medical care, vaccinations, and support for animals in need.

From Los Angeles to the Bahamas

HIT Living's story has deep roots in the Bahamas.

Founder Heather Crowe founded the organization after rescuing a Bahamian Potcake named Kesa and bringing her back to Los Angeles. What began with one dog eventually grew into an organization dedicated to helping animals both at home and around the world.

Today, HIT Living International focuses on helping communities address the growing population of homeless animals through spay and neuter clinics, veterinary care, education, and rescue.

In the Bahamas, HIT Living works alongside local communities, veterinarians, and shelters to provide free spay and neuter clinics and other lifesaving services. Their goal is not only to help individual animals, but to address overpopulation at its source.

Why Spay & Neuter Matters

Spay and neuter programs are an important part of preventing unwanted litters and reducing the number of animals who are born without access to safe homes, veterinary care, and basic resources.

HIT Living's international program specifically supports spay and neuter for dogs and cats in the Bahamas, along with medical care and vaccinations.

Their current international efforts include work in Northern Abaco, where HIT Living has been conducting spay and neuter clinics and supporting animals in need of additional medical care and eventual adoption.

It is a reminder that animal welfare doesn't look the same everywhere. Sometimes saving lives means finding a forever home. Sometimes it means providing emergency medical care. And sometimes it means preventing unwanted litters before they ever happen.

Why MODERNBEAST Chose HIT Living

At MODERNBEAST, we believe animal welfare takes many forms.

HIT Living's approach reflects that belief. Their work combines rescue and rehabilitation with prevention, education, foster care, and international collaboration.

We love that their impact stretches from our shared home of Los Angeles to communities across the Bahamas, creating opportunities for animals both near and far.

Their mission is a natural fit for our Round Up program and the kind of organization we want to help shine a light on.

Introducing the HIT Living Palm Tree Wool Toy

To celebrate our partnership, we're launching the limited-edition HIT LIVING PALM TREE WOOL TOY.

Inspired by HIT Living's Los Angeles roots and international work in the Bahamas, the palm tree represents the places and communities at the heart of their story.

The palm tree is a little piece of LA, a nod to the tropical landscapes of the Bahamas, and a symbol of the connection between HIT Living's local rescue work and their international efforts.

Handcrafted from 100% natural wool, our palm tree brings a little tropical spirit to playtime while helping tell the story of an organization working to make a difference far beyond its own backyard.

Most importantly, every toy helps introduce more people to HIT Living and the lifesaving work they do for animals.

How the MODERNBEAST Round Up Program Helps

From October 1 through December 31, every MODERNBEAST customer can help support HIT Living.

When you check out online or in store, simply choose to round up your purchase. Your spare change will support HIT Living's animal welfare work, including rescue, medical care, and international spay and neuter efforts.

HIT Living's international program currently supports spay and neuter, medical care, vaccinations, and health certificates for animals in the Bahamas.

It may seem small, but those small moments of generosity add up.

An extra dollar at checkout can become part of something much bigger: healthier animals, fewer unwanted litters, more access to veterinary care, and more opportunities for animals to find safe and loving homes.
