Animal rescue rarely begins with a plan.

More often, it begins with a moment. A visit to a shelter. A single dog that needs help. A decision to do something instead of walking away.

For Hilary Rosen, that moment happened in Los Angeles more than a decade ago.

After moving to Los Angeles for college, Hilary built a life surrounded by dogs, running a dog care business and spending her days working with animals across the city. Rescue was not part of the plan.

At MODERNBEAST, giving back to animals is built into our DNA. Each quarter, we partner with a nonprofit rescue doing meaningful work to improve the lives of animals and the communities that care for them.

From April 1 through June 30, our Round Up partner is A Purposeful Rescue, a Los Angeles–based dog rescue dedicated to saving shelter dogs and finding them loving homes.

Bringing home a puppy is one of life’s most exciting moments. It’s also the beginning of a new routine filled with walks, playtime, training, and plenty of learning—for both of you.

With so many “must-have” lists online, it can feel like you need everything before your puppy even arrives. In reality, most new puppy owners rely on a small group of essentials that quickly become part of everyday life.

On March 2, MODERNBEAST launched Life, Rescued, a short film series exploring the quiet, profound ways animal rescue shapes the lives of the people who choose it. Animal rescue is often spoken about in numbers. Intake counts. Transport miles. Adoption rates. But behind every number is a life that was interrupted and a human who chose to step forward. Life, Rescued exists to tell those stories.

Everything we make begins with design and intention, and that includes the brands we choose to stand behind. Our beasts are meant to run wild, get muddy, and live fully outside.
